Lil Peppy began as a heartfelt passion project, sparked by the arrival of my son, Huxley.

As a new parent, I wanted interactive books that would spark his curiosity and create those small, meaningful moments of connection we both craved. But as I searched, I realised there weren’t many engaging, interactive books designed here in Aotearoa.

That gap lit a spark in me. Drawing on my love for design and illustration, I set out to create the kind of books I had been looking for: playful, beautifully crafted, and grounded in the stories, creatures, and environments unique to Aotearoa.

I’m also grateful to collaborate with Rhea and Henare from Matatū Consultancy, whose expertise ensures the te reo Māori translations in my books honour the richness and integrity of the language.
